Summary
The Visit Franklin marketing and public relations internship program is a paid, full-time opportunity for college juniors and seniors to gain valuable hands-on experience as an integral part of a small marketing team. The intern will contribute to projects including content development, social media, e-newsletter development, and public relations. At the end of the program, the intern will walk away with a portfolio of work and practiced real-world marketing skills.
This internship is a full-time opportunity that will take place from June 2 - July 25, 2025, for 8 weeks, averaging approximately 40 hours per week. The intern will have the opportunity to support the marketing team with a variety of projects along with the opportunity to shadow all departments throughout the bureau to expand their knowledge of the tourism industry as a whole. This is a great learning opportunity with a small marketing team eager to support an intern’s interest and growth in the marketing, PR, and tourism fields.
Essential Functions

- Public relations support, including journalist database management, drafting press releases, prepping editorial pitch calendars, planning journalist familiarization tours, and assisting with PR measurement
- Managing the Visit Franklin Ambassadors Facebook page and occasionally gathering social media content for the larger Visit Franklin social media accounts
- Creating labels for weekly Vacation Guide request fulfillment
- Executing on marketing plans to support the downtown Franklin Visitor Center
- Writing and adding content to the Visit Franklin website
- Drafting copy for e-newsletters
- Supporting development of digital passports
Required Education & Experience
- Must be a college junior or senior in PR, marketing, hospitality, or related major
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of social media platforms is a plus
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position averaging up to 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined at the start of the internship.
- Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional, open-office environment in downtown Franklin, Tennessee.
- The internship position is on-site at our downtown Franklin location.
