Position Purpose
Building upon the existing 600 Visit Indy Partners, help uncover local businesses, corporations, and nonprofits who would benefit from officially partnering with Visit Indy in support of driving additional revenue for Visit Indy and additional visitors to the city. By networking in the community, help position Visit Indy as a critical organization for establishing paid partnerships. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organization’s “3 Ps” culture – productive, positive and progressive.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Research, contact, and help secure partnerships with local tourism-related businesses. This includes meeting with business decision makers to help articulate the benefits of becoming an official Visit Indy Partner (restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, coffee shops, shopping, etc.).
- In support of generating additional Visit Indy Partners, develop and maintain a potential partner prospect list and track inquiries throughout the sales process.
- Once a Visit Indy Partner joins, conduct the on-boarding process, including orientation and Partner Portal set-up.
- To communicate the impact of tourism, write copy for email marketing messaging to tourism partners.
- Write and keep current the Visit Indy Partnership Kit, a marketing tool to help sell the benefits of becoming an official Visit Indy Partner.
- Help secure sponsorships to three annual community events Visit Indy hosts: State of Tourism (February), the ROSE Awards (May), and the Hotel Symposium (August).
- Manage the “Visiting All Neighborhoods” program alongside the City of Indianapolis, a program to help uncover visitors’ attractions within all neighborhoods across the city.
- Networking in the community, serve as a Visit Indy engagement led to communicate the benefits of Visit Indy’s work.
- Help plan, market, and execute quarterly Visit Indy Partner Events.
- Work with Visit Indy’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to update tourism partner data.
- Help maintain Visit Indy’s Partnership Portal, a password protected area of VisitIndy.com for Partners to access information about Indy tourism.
- Work with Visit Indy’s finance team, follow up with Partners on invoices and sponsorship agreements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, tourism, or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience working in strategic marketing, communications, and/or sales preferred.
