The RN Preceptor position is a vital leadership role that requires an experienced Registered Nurse to design and implement educational programs promoting professional growth within Visiting Nurse Services Westchester.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the delivery of clinical staff education and training to VNSW clinical staff.
- Plan and conduct initial clinical orientation, field-based training, and supervision of graduate nurse residents and ongoing staff development programs with an integrated approach.
- Promote the development of clinical skills to meet agency needs and patient requirements.
- Conduct field competencies of staff on orientation, graduate nurse residents, and assist the Clinical Manager with field competencies as part of remediation and/or performance improvement plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve care delivery.
- Utilize all methods of clinical instruction available: classroom, internet, webinars, videos, clinical learning management platforms, and home visits to accomplish clinical education objectives.
- Participate in the QI committee and other committees as assigned.
- Collaborate with Clinical Managers and Agency leadership to design, develop, and provide clinical staff development, and evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical education by performance and compliance indicators.
- Collaborate with Clinical Manager in completing a 3-month Post-Orientation review for all new clinical hires.
- Conduct field observation visits, report findings, and submit required documentation to Clinical Manager. Collaborate in formal staff evaluation and staff performance improvement processes.
- Coordinate co-visits and communication with new staff members, graduate nurse residents for the purpose of orientation/training and clinical staff development when needed.
- Participate in QAPI initiatives and reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new clinical initiatives.
- Follow up with clinicians in relation to patient care planning and documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement activities as appropriate.
- Participate on work groups and special projects with leadership as needed.
- Serve as a clinical resource to clinical staff.
- Attend Interdisciplinary case conferences.
