What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Viskase Brand?
Salary Range $62,000 to $75,000
- Lead the assigned shift and ensure all, Health, Safety, Environmental and Security policies, and processes are followed.
- Supervise the total shift to ensure the safety of all employees, maximize production, and meet all quality standards. Lead and coach all assigned employees on the shift. This includes making assignments, ensuring all jobs are covered. Work with maintenance (days and nights) to efficiently start planned maintenance work and cover emergency work orders.
- Monitor the plant process flow – for safe work practices and maximize productivity.
- Improve the safety culture daily by complementing safe behavior and correcting unsafe behavior.
- Acts as a change leader by visibly demonstrating commitment to change, aligning, and helping operations employees to embrace change.
- Participate or lead, as required, continuous improvement teams. Key objectives are to solve process problems, reduce waste, increase production, and reduce cost.
- Plan and assign proper work assignments throughout CEDA to include overtime, if necessary. Complete weekly payroll documents.
- Prepare and submit production and quality records and reports.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a clean and safe mode in accordance with Viskase health, safety and environmental policies and standards.
- Maintain appropriate communications with daily checks on all employee concerns and issues with plant leadership support team.
- Monitor employee attendance to ensure appropriate documentation is received, generated, and filed. This includes doctor statements, attendance reports for payroll and counseling reports for the file.
- Monitor on the job training for assigned employees and complete periodic performance reviews and place in the employees’ file.
- Insure proper production equipment/machine maintenance for all production systems and associated equipment. Evaluate and insure proper and timely extrusion machine changes for size and product.
- (Dye vats, Deaerators, Steep Presses, Shredders and Barattes) Make appropriate machine reviews and process changes to meet changing customer orders.
- Complete monthly safety and housekeeping audits. Ensure the monthly safety meeting for assigned shift CEDA employees is completed.
- Insure that employee review their annual JSA’s and work procedures and conduct new employees and current employees changing positions - training documentation.
- Ensure completion of performance reviews for all new employees and those current employees changing job assignments.
- Attend production and quality meetings and personal in-house training.
- Conduct required disciplinary action and/or counseling when required.
- Participate in the interviewing and hiring process for new CEDA employees.
- Complete safety permits and processes as required, e.g., LOTO, Confined Space and others.
- Ensure accident investigations and reports are completed and submitted to plant leadership.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of knowledge and expertise of manufacturing and production operations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from various levels within the plant.
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment with knowledge of 5S, Lean, RCA and other continuous improvement processes.
- Ability to identify problems and solve them and prevent recurrence.
- Solid mechanical reasoning and analytical skills.
- Daily working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
- Demonstration of effective leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and complete projects on schedule, with high quality and attention to detail.
