POSITION: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Part-time Preschool Assistant
LOCATION: Vista Grande/ Spartan Sparkies Preschool
REPORTS TO: Site Principal or Designee
JOB GOAL:
To effectively support the classroom teacher to ensure positive student achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to be successful:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- 2025 Graduate of Vista Grande High School. Three years’ experience in the Spartan Sparkies preschool during early childhood education program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with supervision of children in the respected preschool facility but not limited to play periods, mealtime, field trips, bathroom, assemblies, and emergency drills.
- Prepare lesson plans and instruct children with age-appropriate curriculum.
- Help develop and create bulletin boards, signs, borders, classroom displays, and letters home to parents.
- Assist children with various physical, emotional, and educational needs.
- Provide guidance and direction to preschool students regarding appropriate behavior and social skills.
- Alert the supervisor to any problems or special information about a preschool student.
- Listens and communicates positively to parents and conveys messages in a timely manner to the preschool director or coach.
- Maintain the confidentiality of protected children and staff member information even after no longer employed.
- Be flexible and perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisor.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment following the Arizona Department of Health rules and regulations.
- Keep educational materials, equipment, and the general room environment neat, safe and clean.
- Maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification and Food Handler’s Card
- Complete required professional development in Early Childhood Education.
- Be alert to and report the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation.
- Assist the classroom teacher by performing tasks which support the instructional program.
- Assist in the instruction of students working individually or in small groups.
- May facilitate adjustment of new preschool children to program.
- May assist students with special needs.
- Performs related duties as required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Four-week contract, hourly at will position.
- Benefits – This is a part time position and not eligible for the benefit plan.
- Must pass Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint clearance check.
- Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, (if necessary), will be needed for IVP fingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Proof of Mumps, Measles and Rubella, (MMR) vaccination.
- Proof of clear TB test within the 12 months.
- Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
- Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications, official transcripts will be due upon job offer*
* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation, (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES). Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.
