What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUD Prevention Specialist position at VISTA MARIA?
• Identify resources and build readiness to address substance use and misuse.
• Represent the agency in community committees.
• Provide consultation with individuals and systems within the community to facilitate coordination, collaboration, and cooperation between individuals, groups, and communities.
• Provide structured opportunities for program participants to integrate the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to meet specific program goals and objectives.
• Provide initial and ongoing program development in response to the assessment and evaluation process.
• Provide substance use/misuse prevention programs to meet the needs and interest of recipients.
• Put into action goals and steps identified through delivery of evidence-based interventions.
• Use fidelity in all prevention programming.
• Utilize effective communication skills.
• Maintain written records and documentation of prevention projects and activities.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes information dissemination, education and community-based strategies and activities.
• Presents accurate information on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
• Facilitates prevention activities in both small and large group settings.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of prevention services through participant evaluations.
• Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
• Complies with corporate compliance standards.
• Keeps abreast of all required trainings including CPR, First Aid, Recipient Rights, and Person-Centered Planning, VCE trainings, etc.
• Must possess a strong desire to help others.
• Highly capable of relating with people of all varying backgrounds and cultures.
• Must have excellent writing and speaking skills.
• Must maintain accurate and sufficient documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include some evenings and weekends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
