Job Description/Responsibilities
The Purchasing Specialist for Managed Information Technology products and services. This position is critical to timely recognition of revenue, cost management, and overall customer satisfaction. This role will be the lead buyer in manage IT products and services to offer support across the country. Will work directly with the VP of Purchasing. Executes the relevant category strategies across the managed portfolio by leading the sourcing process, negotiating with approved suppliers. Involved in the MITS buyers training of new hires.
Purchasing Specialist will provide value to VET through improving cost of goods throughout the Purchasing/ Inventory/ Logistics process while upholding VET ethics and culture. Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive resolution on performance issues, drive process improvements to mitigate and reduce fulfillment risks.
- Provide input on value-adding opportunities from all areas of the supply chain including Forecasting, Supplier Quality, Source Fulfillment, and Sourcing Processes.
- Contribute with continuous improvements in the development of the procurement function towards best practices.
- Ensure Data accuracy and integrity through the entire procurement cycle
- Drive efficiencies and cost savings to improve timely recognition of revenue, cost management, and overall customer satisfaction
- Evaluate vendor performance based on fulfillment rate and verify vendor's prices are aligned with the established agreements.
- Mitigate costs and fulfillment risks to the supply chain
- Compile data from a variety of sources offered through alerts and reports for tracking and reporting key benchmarks
- Will follow through to completion on special projects and/or other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in Strategic Sourcing role with focus on IT procurement in Cloud and Infrastructure
- Computer literacy. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge of sourcing IT Suppliers
- Knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms and pricing with assistance with the purchasing manager
- Knowledge and clear understanding of vendor rebate programs
- Performed function with little supervision in a timely manner with acceptable quality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to multi-task. Ability to learn new software/processes
