Description : Purpose
The Charge Entry Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the charge entry team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in medical billing and coding processes. This role is vital to ensuring correct entry of charges and the integrity of revenue data. The Team Lead will provide support, guidance, and training to team members, act as a point of escalation for complex cases, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and Lead Team : Oversee the daily activities of the charge entry team, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and adherence to department policies and procedures. Provide training and mentorship to team members.
- Charge Entry and Validation : Ensure accurate and timely entry of charges in the system, verifying coding accuracy and compliance with payer guidelines and internal policies.
- Billing and Coding Expertise : Utilize strong knowledge of ICD and CPT codes to ensure correct coding practices. Act as a resource for team members on medical terminology, coding issues, and best practices.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance : Conduct regular quality checks on entered charges, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding standards.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting : Monitor team performance metrics and prepare reports on charge entry status, error rates, and other relevant data. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Communication and Collaboration : Collaborate with billing, coding, and clinical teams to ensure cohesive workflows and resolution of billing and coding issues. Act as a point of escalation for complex cases or issues.
- Process Improvement : Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy, participating in projects and initiatives to optimize charge entry and revenue cycle processes.
