Description
Dispatch personnel will gather information during a call and determine if the patient needs to receive emergency or non-emergency service. They will dispatch the appropriate ambulance to the needed location and maintain communication with the crew and supervisors as needed.
Dispatch personnel need to stay calm while collecting vital information from callers to determine the severity of a situation. Must have the ability to analyze and communicate to the appropriate first responder agencies with information about the call, this may include working with other jurisdictions
Dispatch personnel keep detailed records on each call. They must be able to use a computer system to log important facts, such as the name and location of the caller.
RESPSONSIBLITIES :
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Answer inbound calls for non-emergent and emergency medical calls for assistance.
- Assess the information and determine the appropriate level of emergency response needed.
- Arrange for various types of transport BLS, ALS and Critical Care.
- Communicate the details collected during the call.
- Input detailed information to the Vital Transport System.
- Perform within the Vital Transport Compliance Program.
