Job Description
Position: Front Desk Receptionist/Phone Representative
Position Summary: Our Practice is growing! The receptionist is the first impression of the practice. This position will assist patients over the phone and in person with scheduling appointments, taking messages and registration.
Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to patients at all times.
- Greet patients when they arrive and check them in for their appointments.
- Patient registration including demographics and insurance information.
- Collect patient co-pays and balances.
- Check patients out and make follow up appointments.
- Obtain referrals for insurance plans that require referrals.
- Answer phones, make appointments and take messages for patients.
- Balance daily deposits.
- Assist with billing as requested
- Any additional projects as assigned
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One-year experience is preferred; will consider equivalent education in lieu of experience
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical office protocols and procedures
- Knowledge of EMR (Eclinical works a plus)and medical documentation
- Knowledge of HIPAA
- Knowledge of medical insurance
Skills:
- Skill in using computer software in a Windows environment
- Skill in using PM and EMR systems
- Bilingual in Spanish
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally on the phone and in person, and in writing in email and EMR messages, etc
- Ability to manage time effectively in order to plan, prioritize and complete daily tasks
- Ability to adapt to changes in policies, processes and systems
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, caregivers, providers, employees, and those outside of the practice such as referring doctors, pharmacy staff, etc.
Environmental / Working Conditions: Normal medical office environment
Physical / Mental Demands:
- Mostly sitting with some walking and standing.
- Manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard, using a mobile device such as an iPad or laptop, and other office machines.
- Ability to view computer screens for long periods.
- Occasional stress related to workload and physician / patient demands.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
