Job Summary:
The Transportation Supervisor will oversee the cross-dock operation of a satellite yard. Reporting to the Transportation Manager and the Director of Operations,. While maintaining compliance with State Laws, Federal Regulations, and company policy, the Senior Transportation Supervisor will be tasked with making sure the business runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

- Achieve all safety, service, and cost targets designated for your assigned yard. Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every Vitco Foods employee, our customers, and the public with whom our drivers interact remain injury-free, always.
- Oversee and develop drivers to perform at a high level of performance without sacrificing the “safety first” mentality.
- Build high-performing teams by reviewing staffing requirements, monitoring driver performance, and conducting frequent site visits and ride-alongs.
- Review performance, coach to achieve service and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action when warranted.
- Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions, directing managers on implementation.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal DOT regulations.
- Ensure optimum delivery reliability to the customer by developing efficient and effective routing solutions with the routers.
- Identify bottlenecks and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
- Assist HR and the Transportation Manager in the collection of evidence and administering appropriate discipline.
- Investigate all accidents, maintain an accident file, track causes, and take appropriate preventative action.
- Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging appropriate planning tools. (i.e., Microsoft Excel)
- Work with the Fleet Supervisor in Ontario for PMs, Service, and Repairs of the local fleet.
- Other duties assigned by the Transportation Manager.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in transportation distribution required.
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience.
- Experience as a commercial (Class A preferred).
Required Skills:
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
- Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company.
- Strong understanding of DOT, inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Knowledge of the following programs will be helpful:
o TARGET data system (WMS),
o BFC (WMS) – routing and pallet building
o Descartes - Routing Software
o Geotab - fleet management and ELD (HOS)
o Driver Scanning Devices
o Samba Safety
o Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
o FMCSA Regulations
Physical Requirements:
- Required to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
