Job Description
The Animal Resource Transporter is responsible for the pickup and transport of live animals and cadaver specimens from regional and local partners to Viticus Group facilities. This individual works closely with the veterinary team to ensure animals and cadaveric specimens are handled professionally, humanely, and in compliance with all safety and biohazard protocols. This position requires regional travel, flexibility in scheduling, and physical capability to manage animal handling, transport, and equipment.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Animal Transport & Handling
- Safely operate company vehicle(s) to transport live animals and cadavers from regional and local sources.
- Provide basic animal handling and restraint as needed during pickups.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations related to animal transport.
- Ensure all pickups are conducted with professionalism, compassion, and discretion.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure animals are picked up and delivered in accordance with established protocols.
- Clean and maintain the interior of transport vehicles to ensure a safe, sanitary, and professional environment.
- Pre-and-post-vehicle safety checks.
- Organize and maintain supplies and equipment needed for animal transport and lab support.
- Assist with lab setup and breakdown as needed for educational programs.
- Maintain a proactive attitude and readiness to assist with various operational and veterinary support tasks.
- Follow proper documentation, chain of custody, and reporting procedures related to animal acquisition and transport.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional coursework or certification in animal science, veterinary assisting, or related field preferred.
- Experience in animal handling, transport, or related veterinary/animal care setting preferred.
- Prior experience working in a role requiring punctuality, accountability, and adherence to protocols is a plus.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong communication skills for clear coordination with team members and external partners.
- Professional demeanor with a focus on compassion and discretion when handling sensitive materials and live animals.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- High level of responsibility, punctuality, and follow-through.
- Consistent and accurate documentation and reporting.
- Comfortable handling live animals, including dogs and cats, with compassion and care.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- No known allergies to dogs or cats.
- Self-motivated and proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
- Flexible schedule availability, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean and safe driving record.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles in compliance with all relevant laws and organizational protocols.
