The Controls Engineer position in the Particle Engineering department will be responsible for specifying, owning, and maintaining control systems for development and GMP process equipment. They will collaborate with process engineers and vendors to ensure equipment and process information is being appropriately recorded and in compliance with regulations. This role reports to the Head of Particle Engineering. This is a full-time position, located in Boulder, Colorado. This is a predominantly in-office position, however occasional remote work will be allowed.

This position can be filled at an Engineer II or Engineer III level. Annual Salary for these levels ranges from the following depending on experience and alignment with current and future responsibilities:

Description
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design control system architecture for process equipment and supervisory data acquisition system.
- Collaborate with process engineers on instrumentation diagrams.
- Design and select PLC, fieldbus networks, sensors, final control elements, and other control system hardware.
- Program PLC’s and collaborate with external control system integrators.
- Experience with 21 CFR Part 11 compliant data management.
- Configure SCADA system and computer hardware and collaborate with external control system integrators.
- Author GMP equipment documents (design drawings and documents, qualification protocols, SOPs).
- Assist with validation and operation of process equipment in GMP setting as needed.
- Collaborate on troubleshooting and maintenance of process equipment and systems.
- BS or MS in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience for an Engineer II position, minimum 6 years’ relevant experience for Engineer III
- High proficiency in PLC programming (Beckhoff and Siemens experience preferred).
- Knowledge of FDA best practices related to design and implementation of electronic records (requirements, design, coding, testing, etc).
- Knowledge of common industrial automation/communication protocols SCADA, EtherCat, RS485, Modbus, etc.
- An established portfolio of completed industrial control projects.
- Experience in data engineering desired.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in driving projects forward.
- Proficiency in scientific writing and technical drawings.
