The Opportunity
- Evaluate patients to obtain a preliminary health history, perform physical examinations, and record relevant data.
- Interpret diagnostic studies and establish monitoring modalities as delegated by the anesthesiologist.
- Assist in inducing and maintaining sedation/anesthesia, administering supportive treatment, and providing continuity of care.
- Perform advanced life support techniques, including airway management and ventilatory support.
- Make patient rounds, recording progress notes and compiling case summaries.
- Evaluate life-threatening situations and administer appropriate treatment.
- Perform regional anesthesia and train personnel on patient monitors.
- Train and supervise others in clinical instruction.
- Remain in constant contact with patients, family members, and healthcare teams.
Required Experience and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Satisfactory completion of an accredited anesthesiologist assistant program.
- Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants required.
- Current state licensure as an anesthesiologist assistant required.
- Flexibility and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to make critical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Patience and emotional stability to respond to patients and staff.
- Stamina for long periods of focused work.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Skilled at time management and prioritization.
