The CTRS will support clients through structured activities that enhance emotional regulation, self-expression, and social connection. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized and group-based therapeutic recreation activities that align with treatment goals
- Assess clients’ leisure functioning and maintain appropriate documentation
- Collaborate with therapists, nursing, and direct care teams to integrate recreation into the broader treatment plan
- Facilitate recreation groups that promote skill-building, emotional safety, and healthy peer interaction
- Ensure safety during all recreational programming, including crisis de-escalation when needed
- Track client progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust plans accordingly
- Contribute to interdisciplinary treatment planning and discharge planning
- Support weekend or special event programming when applicable
- Supervise Activity group facilitators
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or related field
- Previous experience working with youth or adolescents in behavioral health settings (preferred)
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Must be organized, compassionate, and team-oriented
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
