Summary of Position:
The Production Manager oversees the Production, Processing, and Freeze-Dry/Probiotic Blends
departments, ensuring efficient operations and high quality and compliance standards. This role
involves leading and mentoring supervisors and employees across these areas, managing
SAP/BatchMaster systems, and ensuring adherence to third-party audit standards, GMPs,
HACCP, and other certifications.
The Production Manager is also responsible for addressing regulatory issues, conducting internal
audits, and spearheading purchasing, loss analysis, and technical resolutions. A key aspect of
this role is enforcing operational standards, implementing corrective actions, and providing
performance counseling as needed.
Collaboration is central to this position. The production manager works closely with the Quality
Assurance Manager to maintain strict compliance with SOPs and GMPs and leads regular
operations meetings. The Production Manager also partners with Front Office, Quality,
Inventory/Shipping, and Maintenance managers to uphold safety, food safety, and regulatory
practices while ensuring daily production goals are consistently achieved.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations within the manufacturing facility to ensure efficient production processes.
- Manage assembly line activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines.
- Utilize to troubleshoot equipment issues and optimize performance.
- Operate forklifts and other machinery safely, while supervising warehouse activities.
- Train and mentor staff on the use of hand and power tools, promoting a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance production workflows and resolve challenges.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a manufacturing facility or factory setting
- Strong of assembly line processes
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools
- Experience operating forklifts
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics
- Ability to manage and lead production teams effectively
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate & train personnel on company policy, food safety principles, good
manufacturing practices, continuous improvement, and specific job tasks/functions.
- Provide direction, instruction, guidance, and accountability in company policy, safety, food
safety, good manufacturing practices, master sanitation, and specific job tasks/functions to
the Production, Processing, and Freeze-Dry/Probiotic Blends Supervisors.
- Obtain and convey an intricate “hands-on” knowledge of area procedures, troubleshoot
issues, and act as a resource for others.
- Be a role model in attitude, work ethic, attendance, attention to detail, and adherence to all
policies and procedures.
- Ensure all department employees receive adequate training to perform all departmental
tasks.
- Work with the front office, customer service, product line managers, and other operations
managers to ensure departmental tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
Revise SOPs for the departments as needed and review them annually.
- Develop high-level knowledge of the SAP/BMM system, integrate new modules, and act as a
resource for others.
- Assist the Inventory/Shipping Manager in reconciling the monthly inventory of finished
products, raw materials, chemicals, and packaging.
- Assist the Inventory/Shipping Manager in purchasing and receiving raw ingredients,
packaging, chemicals, and other items used in the plant.
- Verify fermentation, production, processing, freeze-dry, blending, and QC reports to ensure
accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain all Production, Processing, and Freeze-Dry/Probiotic Blends records.
- Work through departmental personnel to clean and maintain all GMP, chemical storage, and
common areas.
- Review production/processing schedules regularly to maximize workflow and efficiency.
Attend all required meetings and communicate information as needed.
- Assist with validation/verification of Food Safety and Quality Systems.
- Assist with customer service requests.
- Work with Plant Manager to initiate improvements and changes to increase productivity in
the department.
- Attain HACCP certification & SQF Practitioner (back-up)

Job Specifications:
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences or specific fields such as food science, engineering,
biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, biology, and other related fields.
- Technical experience in quality control, quality assurance, regulation, fermentation,
biological sciences, audited quality and/or food safety programs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
