Role Overview:
You will be responsible for performing strain isolations, optimizing media and recipes for fermentations, and plot production of products on small and medium scale.
Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments to optimize fermentation, count, and activity of the bacteria.
- Perform strain capture isolations from various sources
- Perform aseptic transfer of cultures and inoculum
- Relay experimental data effectively to senior technicians and assist in analysis
- Produce products on a small and medium scale
- Assist in construction of new product lines
- Maintain a clean and well stocked working environment on a weekly basis
- Practice safety in all aspects; wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life/Food Science or related field, or an associate degree with 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting, or high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years laboratory experience
- Mastered aseptic technique is valued but not required
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
- Capabilities to act as a strong independent and key team player
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
- Good work ethic and enthusiastic learner
- Consistent attendance and punctuality
- Advanced multitasking abilities in order to address different projects congruently
- Able to lift/carry up to 70 lbs
- Able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time
- Mastered aseptic technique is valued but not required
- Ability to act as a strong independent and key team player
- Strong attention to detail, data entry, accuracy, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
Expected Scheduling: Weekdays, 8am-4:30pm
