This role will also represent the purchasing department in cross-functional meetings and projects. As the Purchasing Supervisor, you will work hands-on with the team to supervise and manage procurement processes to ensure achievement of purchasing KPIs through daily management and change management planning, action, follow-up and organizational learning. The role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of supply chain functions: sourcing, procurement, parts ordering, vendor management, logistics, continuous process improvement and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of two Buyers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure successful execution of purchasing activities.
- Oversee and assist in analyzing demand and material usage to forecast purchasing needs, ensuring the team maintains optimal inventory levels.
- Support Buyers in placing orders and managing relationships with vendors, while also ensuring that all procurement aligns with company standards for quality and cost.
- Track and maintain adequate inventory levels for production, managing the balance between overstocking and stockouts to optimize operations.
- Coordinate and monitor transportation arrangements for timely delivery of materials and work with Buyers to expedite orders when required to meet deadlines.
- Oversee the identification and establishment of secondary suppliers to minimize material shortages and secure long-term supply continuity.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for purchasing activities. Regularly assess the team's performance against set targets and identify areas for improvement.
- Create regular reports on purchasing performance, inventory status, and supply chain trends. Prepare presentations for department meetings and senior management, highlighting key findings, opportunities, and challenges.
- Collaborate with production, finance, and other departments to ensure material requirements align with production schedules, budgets, and overall company objectives.
- Lead shop floor and fact-based problem-solving investigations and countermeasures when supply chain issues arise. Continuously seek opportunities to improve purchasing processes, eliminate negative impact to Operations, optimize efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, with at least 1-2 years of supervisory experience, preferably within a manufacturing or similar fast-paced industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- Expertise in procurement processes, vendor negotiation, and inventory management.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and purchasing software or ERP systems.
- Both Quantitative and Qualitative analysis.
- Experience with purchasing and supply chain management tools or ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and manage complex information.
- Ability to present and communicate purchasing data clearly to senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, with a moderate understanding of Lean principles and methodologies.
- Some travel may be required.

- Experience in a manufacturing or custom production environment.
- Certification in supply chain management or purchasing (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).
