The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with other talented accounting and finance staff to promote integrity in the monthly financial process. While reporting to the Finance Controller, this role has opportunities to project manage, demonstrate strong accounting skills, and build other team members up in spirit and accounting expertise. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other accountants on team priorities and have opportunities to sharpen technical accounting skills. We are looking for a leader that is also willing to follow and execute upon a team vision.
Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant performs special accounting projects each month in addition to having a voice in several core accounting processes on the team. This role requires a comfortability to hit targets on time while also finding a work life balance that works for them and the team. They will be a significant resource during month end close while performing reconciliations, corrections, and financial analysis on a short timeline and need to have a comfortability managing several competing priorities at the same time.
Tasks and Duties
Accounting and finance tasks assigned by the Finance Controller
- Prepare, review, or post journal entries.
- Perform accounting special projects as assigned.
- Evaluate and collaborate with team members to process improve.
- Organize annual audit deliverables and coordinate with appropriate team members.
Month end close activities
- Ensure monthly reconciliations are complete.
- Ensure month end coordination with other team members is complete.
- Ensure month end journal entries are complete.
- Ensure monthly financial analysis is complete.
- Contribute to team tasks when assigned tasks are complete.
Tax and compliance activities
- Collaborate with the Finance Controller to ensure Income Tax Deliverables are completed on time.
- Collaborate with the Finance Controller to ensure Sales Tax Deliverables are completed on time.
- Collaborate with the Finance Controller to ensure compliance communications are properly and promptly addressed.
- Education needed: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance, Masters Degree/CPA is a bonus.
- Minimum years of three years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience in accounting for software and hardware preferred.
- Experience in project managing tasks to completion preferred.
- Experience in working with Microsoft Business Central or Navision preferred.
- Experience in financial reporting preferred.
- Experience in tax and compliance preferred.
- Experience in intermediate/advanced excel skills required.
