Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer with a solid background in injection molding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality standards, ensuring compliance with ISO requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in South Bend, IN, offering a $130,000 base salary plus bonus and the potential for relocation assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Planning & Launch
- Format quality plans and oversee contract reviews.
- Lead the introduction of new products onto the manufacturing floor.
- Testing & Reporting
- Conduct timely testing and deliver accurate reports to customers.
- Utilize various measurement tools (CMM, Micro-Vu, optical comparators, etc.).
- Corrective Actions & Compliance
- Investigate and resolve quality issues using 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone methods.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to uphold quality standards.
- Inspection & Documentation
- Develop and control inspection plans for molding and secondary operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and participate in internal/external audits.
- Team Leadership
- Train, manage, and effectively lead a team of quality personnel.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in an injection molding environment.
- Proven expertise in testing plastic injection molding products.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred (Engineering or related field).
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of corrective action techniques: 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.
- Familiarity with internal and external ISO audits.
- Blueprint reading and GD&T competency.
- Understanding of FAI (First Article Inspection) and PPAP processes.
- Prior experience programming and using PC-DMIS for CMM.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead diverse teams.
- Availability:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Willingness to relocate (if applicable).
