This position is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and cost-effective analytical data used to support environmental decision making. Responsible for QA/QC of all inbound and outbound waste. Also performs routine maintenance on lab equipment as well as calibrations on equipment. Maintains databases of all materials tested.

Responsibilities
- Ability to perform analysis and routine sample preparation for a variety of tests to include:
- pH
- Bench test water treatment
- Total Halogens
- Flash Point
- PCB analysis
- Metals testing
- BS&W analysis
- Solvent Scan
- Enter completed analysis into database depending upon what type of waste tested (i.e. drums, bulk, outgoing, etc.). The database is an Access function.
- Routine calibration and calibration checks of all machines to include:
- Scales
- pH meter
- Micro coulometers
- GC
- GC/MS
- Flash Point Testers
- ICP for metals analysis
- Print lab analysis upon request
- Be able to adequately perform Proficiency Test (PTs) to demonstrate ability to perform required laboratory analysis.
- Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
- Ensure that the work area is clean, secure and well maintained
- Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
- Establish and maintain effective communications with other departments as well as with department head
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, environmental science, biology, microbiology, physical sciences or engineering. 1 year of previous lab experience is also acceptable.
