The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for daily and preventative maintenance during third shift to cover the needs of facilitating root cause machine shutdowns at our Gray Court, SC Site. This includes the need to support operations during high demand times to ensure the success of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and record root causes to machine shutdowns to minimize down time.
- Facilitates the safe use of an oxylance to clear metal jams.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
- Works with plant management to plan periodic maintenance and ensure correct parts are ordered for all equipment
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment as needed (Includes Facility, Mechanical, and heavy machinery)
- Clean areas of accumulation and sweep floor areas with forklift.
- Serve as needed for facility and functional support / Operate forklift for daily operation needs when short staffed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Identify safety hazards in the workplace.
- Possess a fundamental knowledge of plant equipment, troubleshooting & how to repair if necessary – including but not limited to pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, fabricating, and welding.
- Audit Switch gear panels for error codes causing disruption to production.
- Be an effective communicator, verbal, email, and text.
- Must comply with all Environmental Management System (EMS) policies and procedures
- Safety (OSHA) experience preferred
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- 3-5 years' experience of maintenance background
- Must be able to work 3rd shift-9:30pm – 6:00am
- Must be willing to work flexible hours/shifts to support business needs (may include occasional weekends or holidays)
- Experience with basic welding preferred
- Experience with heavy equipment (forklift, front loader, etc.)
- Extensive hand/ power tool experience preferred
- Basic math, reading comprehension and writing skills
- Work long hours doing repetitive motions in any weather
- Dependable
- Manages time effectively
- Must be willing to help in other departments as needed
- Ability to work independently or as a team
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, kneel, and work from heights
