What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Mechanical Inspector position at VMC Group?
The Quality Assurance Mechanical Inspector plays a key role in ensuring the quality of manufactured goods, working closely with the QA Supervisor to support production.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Verification
- Inspect incoming raw materials and components for conformance to existing inspection plans, customer drawings, sales orders, and purchase orders.
- Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process to identify and address any material discrepancies.
In-Process Product Inspection
- Verify the integrity of products in various stages of production, ensuring they meet specifications and dimensional checks.
- Randomly sample in-process products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Document inspection results, including re-work and waste.
Final Product Inspection
- Ensure final products meet specific customer orders and review sign-offs on traveler or work orders before releasing products to shipping.
- Collect quality data on accept and reject rates across all areas.
- Perform inspections in the curb shop as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
- Working knowledge of gauge calibration and ability to use calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, applying knowledge to product inspection.
- Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 symbology.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of experience in mechanical inspection environment.
