What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copywriter Intern position at VML MAP?

What will your day look like?
As a Copywriting Intern you’ll work alongside our staff of talented writers, learning the craft as you write for multiple global clients, gaining a thorough insight into their businesses. Your primary job will be to create compelling copy for Loyalty, CRM, and other communication channels.
You will:
- Write original copy for emails, push notifications, and paid media, including eye-catching subject lines and preheaders
- Brainstorm communication and copy ideas with the team
- Revise copy based on internal and client feedback
- Play an active role in projects, from initial idea generation to execution and approval – closely liaising with CRM comms strategists on assignments.
- Study insights or reports to give your copy a strong conceptual foundation
- Lean on brand playbooks and tone of voice guides to create copy aligned with clients’ brand values.
- Participate in a weekly group creative brainstorming session
Who are you going to work with?
As a member of the Experience Communications & Design team, our Copywriter Intern will write and edit content for a variety of projects (e.g., email programs with dynamic and static copy) working closely with communication strategists, CX/UX designers, data scientists, tech developers and project managers to brainstorm ideas and articulate messaging.
You will interact with interesting and kind colleagues in a setting that prioritizes collaboration and camaraderie. We come from diverse backgrounds and have unique skill-sets, so you’ll get plenty of opportunities to apply your expertise.

Required skills and qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelors degree in Communications/Advertising, English, Journalism or equivalent program
- Excellent communication skills and flawless writing talents
- Ability to work independently or with a team to meet deadlines
This role is open to students with legal authorization to work in Texas, US and who are currently pursuing their studies.
What to expect of the recruitment process?
You will meet different people from the Experience Design & Communications teams throughout the interview process. Before the second round, we ask candidates to complete a short writing assignment, done at home at your convenience.
