Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) – Cheyenne, WY
Location: Cheyenne VA Medical Center, Cheyenne, WY
Employment Type: Full-Time, 1 Year-Contract
Veterans Management Services, Inc. (VMSI) is seeking Medical Supply Technicians to support our client’s sterile processing operations in Cheyenne, WY. This role focuses on instrument decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution for surgical specialties, outpatient clinics, and various hospital departments. The selected candidates will ensure compliance with nationally recognized sterilization and infection control standards, including AAMI, HSPA, FDA, CDC, and Joint Commission guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate and process medical instruments from surgical specialties, endoscopy, dental, wound care, podiatry, and ophthalmology.
- Assemble basic and complex instrument sets, ensuring proper handling of delicate micro-surgical tools.
- Operate sterilization and high-level disinfection equipment, including Steam, V-Pro, Trophon, and Medivators.
- Conduct post-sterilization inspections, verify indicator changes, and track sterilization logs.
- Maintain an inventory system for sterile instruments, following first-in, first-out principles.
- Participate in daily huddles, staff meetings, training sessions, and audits.
- Follow infection control policies, aseptic techniques, and patient safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and Privacy Act of 1974 regulations when handling sensitive data.
Qualifications:
- HSPA/CPSPD certification preferred but not required.
- 1 years of experience in sterile processing within a hospital, outpatient clinic, or VA facility.
- Expertise in medical instrument decontamination, sterilization, and assembly.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment and surgical tools.
- Must follow VA safety protocols and reporting requirements.
Work Schedule:
- Monday – Friday with possible weekend shifts based on clinic needs.
- Required attendance at staff meetings and daily team huddles.
