VMSI is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), seeking a highly motivated ServiceNow Developer to join our team supporting our client; one of the largest water and wastewater utilities in the nation, dedicated to delivering safe and reliable water services to the communities it serves. This role will play a key part in designing, developing, and implementing ServiceNow solutions to enhance IT service management and operational efficiency within the organization.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Developer to design, develop, and implement ServiceNow applications and modules while customizing and configuring existing functionalities. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in ServiceNow development, including scripting, automation, integration, and UI/UX enhancements. This role requires collaboration with stakeholders, IT teams, and business analysts to ensure seamless ServiceNow implementations that support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- MUST be comfortable with commuting in-office 3x week (Laurel, MD)
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for ServiceNow solutions.
- Design, develop, and implement custom applications and modules on the ServiceNow platform.
- Configure and customize existing ServiceNow applications, including Service Catalog, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management.
- Develop and maintain workflows, forms, and user interfaces to improve the user experience.
- Integrate ServiceNow with other business systems using APIs, web services, and middleware technologies.
- Create and maintain scripts to automate tasks and streamline processes.
- Design and maintain reports and dashboards to provide insights into ServiceNow data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ServiceNow issues and incidents.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and mentorship to ServiceNow users and junior developers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and IT teams to gather requirements and ensure successful project execution.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest ServiceNow features, releases, and best practices.
- Participate in ServiceNow testing, deployment, and quality assurance activities.
- Implement security measures to protect ServiceNow data and applications.
- Monitor system performance and optimize ServiceNow for scalability and efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to ITIL framework and ServiceNow development best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and training materials.
- Assist in the development of ServiceNow training programs and knowledge base content for end-users.
- Support ServiceNow governance, compliance policies, and IT service management initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- 5 years of hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Developer with a strong understanding of the platform’s architecture and capabilities.
- Experience working on large-scale ServiceNow implementations in diverse team environments.
- Expertise in JavaScript, Jelly, AngularJS, and other ServiceNow development tools.
- Strong understanding of ITIL framework and best practices.
- Experience developing and customizing ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITOM, ITBM, and CSM.
- Integration experience with third-party applications using APIs, web services, and middleware technologies.
- Experience working with cloud technologies (e.g., Azure).
- Preferred industry experience in water and wastewater utilities and familiarity with Oracle utility applications.
Skills & Competencies:
- ServiceNow Expertise: Hands-on development experience with ServiceNow’s platform, workflows, and automation tools.
- Integration Skills: Proven ability to integrate ServiceNow with enterprise systems and databases.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving complex issues.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders and IT teams.
- Workflow Automation: Ability to design and implement automated workflows to streamline business processes.
- Technical Documentation: Experience creating and maintaining documentation for technical solutions and end-user training.
- Mentorship: Ability to guide junior developers and share best practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- ITIL v4 Certification
