Job Title: Fully Remote Teacher for Visually Impaired (2024/2025 School Year) - 1099 Contract Position

Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2024/2025 school year. This fully remote, 1099 contracted position provides a unique opportunity to work with students who have visual impairments, helping them to thrive academically and socially. As an independent contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your own schedule while providing impactful services to students across North Dakota.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to the general education curriculum
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure an integrated approach to support
- Deliver virtual one-on-one and group sessions, utilizing online platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Adapt educational materials and resources to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments
- Provide guidance on assistive technology and techniques to enhance students' learning experiences
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to discussions about student progress
- Support students in developing skills for independence and self-advocacy
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
- Valid North Dakota State Certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments
- Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Proficient in the use of Braille (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with assistive technology tools for visually impaired students (such as screen readers, Braille devices, etc.)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your schedule as a 1099 independent contractor
- Comfortable with virtual teaching platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Reliable internet and computer setup for virtual instruction
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Compensation:
- Around $50 per hour, depending on experience
- Pay for both direct and indirect service hours
