Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Estimator to join our team. This position will focus on estimating structural steel components and will involve both computer-aided and manual take-off estimates. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in structural steel fabrication and erection processes and experience in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform take-offs for various structural steel components and ensure all standard and special requirements are captured.
- Review contract drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to generate accurate estimates.
- Review vendor and sub-tier quotes for scope compliance and cost accuracy.
- Produce estimate summaries and identify buy-out items or special requirements.
- Assist in training new Estimators in Training (EITs) and provide guidance as needed.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the structural steel industry.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Prior experience in construction estimating and hands-on knowledge of means and methods.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and other relevant software tools.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred but not required).
- Experience reviewing contract drawings and specifications related to structural steel.
