We’re seeking electrical engineering or information technology students with an interest in learning about hands-on engineering and / or information technology in a manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will be self-starters who possess strong communication and leadership skills who work well in a team environment.
What You’ll Be Doing :
Perform tasks in a hands-on support role for information technology and / or electrical controls engineering. This could also include researching and reporting on recommended improvements in the Company’s processes. You may perform design work, project management work and other duties in an electrical, manufacturing / industrial or mechanical engineer assistant role for trials, testing and other technical assignments. For IT, it could involve help desk support and software programming or troubleshooting.
Major learning objectives : projects / areas could include :
Students will learn basics of our processes and learning trouble-shooting in our manufacturing environment. Could also include writing work instructions, design work or project management. Would be some exposure to : CAD, CMM, Automation / Robotics, machining, or CNC machine processes.
General Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.
- Contact and / or talk with various vendors, as required and appropriate.
- Specifies production machinery required for various operations that are appropriate to level of experience.
- Perform work measurement studies or verify manufacturing standards, actual vs. estimate.
- Research, recommend, justify, and implement new processes and equipment. Could be directly involved with continuous improvement or lean teams.
- Perform process capability study and uptime study.
- Review operating methods and recommend changes.
- Will work on process flow improvements in production areas including robotic welding and roll forming.
Schedule : Will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours – schedule could be 7-4, 8-5 or some variation as needed by student and team.
NOTE : Student(s) selected will be contracted and employed through a local employment “temporary” agency.
