This is a pivotal role for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in door and hardware estimating, team management, and client engagement. About the Role
Our Client, a trusted leader in construction services with over 60 years of excellence, is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator specializing in Doors, Frames, and Hardware (DFH) to lead a high-performing estimating team. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in door and hardware estimating, team management, and client engagement. You will play a critical role in shaping strategic growth, ensuring operational excellence, and contributing to winning bids that align with our client's legacy of quality and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of up to 9 estimators, both remote and onsite, to deliver accurate, competitive, and timely project estimates.
- Oversee all aspects of estimating for ground-up construction projects in the multi-million-dollar range, specializing in Divisions 8 and 10 (Doors, Frames, and Hardware).
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure seamless execution of estimating strategies and schedules.
- Present technical solutions and bid strategies to clients with confidence and clarity, serving as a key point of contact during project acquisition phases.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans for large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Use software tools like Comsense to create detailed takeoffs and material estimates while ensuring compliance with local codes and industry standards.
- Partner with cross-functional hiring teams to onboard and integrate top talent into the estimating team.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative team environment focused on continuous improvement, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, with a strong focus on doors, frames, and hardware; candidates from general construction with multi-million-dollar project experience are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams of estimators, including remote and onsite employees.
- Exceptional understanding of construction plans, blueprints, and specifications, particularly in DFH scopes.
- Proven ability to navigate complex client presentations and discussions, acting as the technical lead during project acquisition phases.
- Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Comsense) and familiarity with leading industry vendors like Allegion and Assa Abloy.
- Solid knowledge of building codes, including ADA, UL, and life safety standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
