Job Description

Volitant Technologies is the premier aerial UAS/drone solution provider for agriculture in the Midwest. We are looking for experienced and licensed UAS/drone pilots to join our team. We need a hands-on, self-starter that is results oriented when conducting aerial spraying, spreading and mapping jobs for customers.

We have a team of licensed pilots providing mapping, crop protection spraying, cover crop and right-of-way seeding services. We support commercial specialty crops, vineyards, tree nurseries, right of way/easements, and construction. Serving as an authorized DJI dealer, we offer equipment sales, parts, repairs, software and training for DJI agricultural drones.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute flight plans that adhere to FAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Create and manage crop spraying/spreading data and maps.
  • Mix and spray chemical or spread seed product(s) with UAS/drone using appropriate application rates, product label instructions, and safety protocols.
  • Inventory, manage and report amounts of chemicals, dry products and seed used on jobs.
  • Oversee and troubleshoot drone performance, supporting equipment and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Manage projects simultaneously, meet job deadlines, and report job delays.
  • Must manage and record work time after each job.
  • Submit all flight records electronically after completion of jobs to the Volitant operations lead.
  • Document customer information, services and products rendered by job and submit for invoicing and billing.
  • Participate with drone demonstrations to potential customers purchasing equipment or services.
  • Report any regulatory violations from either flying or chemical use immediately to the Volitant operations lead.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of common drone equipment, operating systems and safety protocols.
  • Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions for long periods of time. Frequently walking in agricultural fields and terrain is expected.
  • Must understand directions to job site and communicate necessary job tasks among customers, management, and other team members.
  • Maintain constant alertness to nearby activities of the field application site. This includes the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and writing skills while maintaining a professional demeanor with customers and team.
  • Ability to work well with other pilots and overall team.
  • Ability to work with computer applications, controllers, data management, and reporting.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 75 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • United States citizen
  • High School Diploma
  • An Associates Degree in electronics, agriculture, engineering or aviation related field; or demonstrated and applicable work experience meeting requirements of this position can be substituted.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience piloting unmanned aircraft/drones.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification is required.
  • Must have a Class II medical certificate.
  • Must complete Volitant's drone training program after being hired.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel to/from job sites and other work locations.
  • Hold or ability to obtain applicable agricultural commercial chemical applicators permit and any other required permit from issuing regulatory state agency after being hired.

Job Type:

Part-Time, Hourly, Seasonal

Compensation:

  • $20/hour
  • Potential incentives or adjusted base wage based on job quotas met and other responsibilities added.

Location:

  • Remote work with base office near Nebraska City, Lincoln, or Omaha Nebraska.
  • Midwest States including: Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Kansas
  • Must be able to live and work in these areas on a seasonal or permanent basis
