We are currently searching for an experienced Designer – Mechanical to support our West Gulf Region located in Ruston, LA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Interpret and analyze general design requirements provided by engineers, including piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping specifications, stress analysis recommendations, and equipment requirements.
- Use theoretical and practical design knowledge of the oil and gas industry to design CAD 3D models for mechanical equipment and piping systems.
- Review vendor equipment drawing packages and provide comments.
- Obtain accurate field data using 3D scanning or manual measurement methods.
- Manipulate point cloud data to generate as-built 3D models.
- Produce quality, constructible drawing packages per the project scope, including site plans, location plans, piping plans, sections and details, piping isometrics, pipe support details and tie-in details, where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, client and company design and drafting standards, and industry-accepted guidelines and best practices.
- Perform quality control checks of the work of other designers and drafters.
- Mentor and advise less-experienced designers and drafters.
- Plan and supervise work for designers and other drafting personnel.
- Communicate and work closely with other disciplines with minimal supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two-year drafting, design, or industry-related technical degree from an accredited university or trade school preferred.
- 10 years of experience in drafting, 3D modeling and piping design required.
- 5 years of experience in oil and gas industry preferred.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, CADWorx Plant and ISOGEN.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
