Summary
Coordinate multiple Material Flow related projects and identify priorities based on current business needs. Design material flow systems and processes to support the Volkswagen Production System. Responsible to develop team network and gain consensus cross functionally for newly identified process improvement opportunities
Responsibilities
- Coordinate overall material flow process for production trials and model changes.
- Design part flow and material routing for the Body, Assembly and Battery production.
- Set up and maintain parts for the necessary systematic flow to support picking and sequencing.
- Prioritize equipment needs and support Material Flow projects from business case approval through implementation.
- Lead activities between cross functional teams to provide safe and efficient processes.
- Review Logistics concepts for packaging design and project coordination.
- Develop the production process to ensure processes meet safety standards, quality standards, environmental, and OSHA regulations.
- Create a continuous improvement environment to develop best in class production system.
- Coordinate activities with the maintenance team to minimize production delays due to equipment issues.
- Develop systems to meet KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements.
- Identify requirements for vehicle structure to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost in all departments within the automotive facility.
- Monitor safety, quality, cost, and productivity, with improvement activities for assigned areas of production.
- Complete projects on schedule and within the annual administrative, operational, and capital budgets.
- Provide direction and assistance to analyze production issues, propose countermeasures, and resolve issues
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 3-5 years of related experience in automotive manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience with: Part delivery system development, Material flow & Logistics knowledge, Strong mechanical aptitude, Project Management & MS Project proficiency, Equipment design, CAD & Solid modeling knowledge, Positive employee relations/team building, Lean/visual systems, Continuous improvement implementation
Preferred
- Master’s degree in engineering
- Experience with: Implementation of engineering changes, Automotive experience, Microstation experience, Catia experience, VW production system & logistics knowledge, SAP/BESI/Cobra knowledge, Experience using logistics simulation tools, Ergonomic evaluations, External logistics coordination
