The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
Summary
The intern will work closely with the team on several projects related to the Atlas NF launch, pre-series builds, and the initial planning phase for the ID4 PA model. These projects will involve tasks such as monitoring the installation and commissioning of equipment, tracking issues, and supporting countermeasure activities. The intern will also be involved in base investment projects, which include developing business cases, tracking progress, and following up on actions. Additionally, the intern may lead projects assigned by external departments.
This position will start on June 2nd 2025 and end on Aug 8th 2025. Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours / week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday – Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).
To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. At this time, we are unable to consider OPT / CPT / International candidates
Responsibilities
- Support Body Shop Planning engineers in managing and overseeing various projects.
- Assist in developing and updating specifications for both new and existing manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Lead or monitor external contractors involved in equipment installation or modification.
- Develop layouts and process flows for introducing new models or optimizing existing processes.
- Support the design, installation, commissioning, and handover of manufacturing equipment.
- Investigate causes of equipment downtime, conduct root cause analysis, and propose solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity, and implement changes.
- Collect and analyze equipment cycle times to identify areas for improvement.
