The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide Volkswagen Chattanooga the opportunity to develop talent for potential future entry-level positions.
The Assembly Planning Intern will be a part of a large engineering team where they will assist the team on various support functions as needed. The intern will gain knowledge and skills in problem solving, teamwork and collaboration, organization and time management, project management, engineering, CAD technologies, technical writing.
This position will start on June 2nd 2025 and end on Aug 8th 2025.Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).
To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. At this time, we are unable to consider OPT/CPT/International candidates
- Assist with conceptual design and implementation of manufacturing equipment and technologies.
- Receive and deliver parts to support manufacturing operations.
- Conduct cycle time readings to assess efficiency.
- Perform shop floor investigations to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in ergonomic evaluations to ensure worker safety and comfort.
- Provide support for 3D printing projects.
- A degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Management) is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with CAD technologies and design tools is a plus.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- CAD technologies and software for design and analysis tasks.
