Role Summary:

The purpose of the Warehouse Supervisor is to ensure that the picking, packing, and shipping processes for all outbound and inbound freight operate effectively and efficiently. The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that incoming and outgoing freight is verified, stocked, and properly maintained effectively and efficiently.

He or she is responsible for planning and directing all phases of the inbound and outbound processes. The Supervisor works in concert with inbound and outbound carriers and vendors to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries; identifies "best methods", suggests and/or develops action timelines and implements updated processes to achieve increasing success toward specified meterics and PDC or RDC objectives.

Daily responsibilities include planning and directing all phases of the inbound and outbound processes such as the checking-in, stocking, scheduling, and processing of all Inbound freight, and the scheduling of the buybacks and returns for all dealers.

The Warehouse Supervisor will also research and verify discrepancies within the Inbound processes. The Supervisor will also be responsible for but is not limited to, unloading, break out, put-away for all parts. He or she also works in concert with Inbound carriers and vendors to ensure a timely unload; suggests/develops action timelines; and implements updated processes to achieve increasing success toward specified metrics and PDC or RDC objectives.

The Warehouse Supervisor also serves as a local Change Agent responsible for the successful implementation of all Parts Strategies, including ET-2000 at the local level by continually reinforcing the Parts Strategy Change Management Business Case and philosophy and acting as a local communication link with all the PDC employees.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversees inbound and outbound processes as well as manpower ensuring efficient and accurate receipt and delivery of product.
  • Oversees the claims, core and factory returns, and buyback processes from the operational perspective, to ensure compliance with the company policies and procedures while also completing the appropriate documentation.
  • Assigns appropriate resources, determines objectives and procedures, and monitors accuracy of results to ensure Annual Physical Inventory is accurate.
  • Maintains and submits records of employee attendance, verifies information, and reports to the site payroll administrator.
  • Maintains employee training plans, certifications, and other pertinent workplace documentation.
  • Works with the Outbound, Inbound, and Inventory Leads to achieve daily objectives, examines and identifies best methods, suggests process improvements, and implements updated procedures.
  • Investigates billing/Outbound errors relating to parts distribution for the Finance Team.
  • Traces possible stocking or receipt errors and warehouse refusals, and reconciles inventory discrepancies and location assignments to ensure maximum quality of available parts and service.
  • Provides training for each team member and ensures they perform duties in compliance with established quality procedures and safety requirements.
  • Assists the Warehouse Operations Manager in contacting dealers, liaison between dealers and carriers to resolve all conflicts that may arise from freight loss or damage claims, contacts any on-going suppliers, reviews packing and shipments, and takes appropriate actions to ensure dealer satisfaction.
  • Reevaluates and improves carrier routings and relations, operating efficiencies, modes of transportation, procedures, timelines, fiscal and operational objectives with the assistance of other lead personnel and communication with vendors/suppliers.
  • Works with the Outbound Coordinator to group deliveries and create Goods Issue transfer orders.
  • Coordinates Goods Receipt functions within ET-2000 to support Receipts Coordinator.
  • Reports all packaging concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinates repacking for Inbound part numbers when appropriate.
  • Processes scrap in concert with scrap vendors, executes inventory scraps, location reports, location management projects, and other procedures to maintain a current scrap inventory status in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Arranges and conducts disposal of hazardous waste materials according to environmental regulations.
  • Reviews the buyback schedule and works with the Returns Administrator to maintain a steady flow of work providing an increased level of dealer service.
  • Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and presents department performance to PDC/RDC Manager as required; including operational performance and budget performance. Recommends solutions to variances as necessary.
  • Ensures PDC/RDC Operations are in compliance with Health and Safety Legislation by ensuring that all safety, HazMat, and housekeeping procedures are developed, implemented, followed, and reviewed periodically for effectiveness.
  • Works with other PDC/RDC Warehouse Supervisors as a cohesive team to achieve warehouse operational metrics, strategies, and measurable goals.
  • Examines current warehouse methods, identifies best methods, suggests process improvements, and implements updated processes and procedures within the warehouse functions, in cooperation with Lead persons and other warehouse staff.
  • Prepares, monitors, and takes action to ensure that operational budgets for direct area of responsibility are achieved.
  • Promotes an atmosphere where employee contributions are valued and considered an integral part of providing exceptional service to customers, resolves employee conflict in line with company guidelines and policies.
  • Coaches team members to be motivated and engaged regarding achievement of efficiency and accuracy targets.
  • Acts as a Change Agent by modeling desired behaviors, promoting two-way communication, sharing best practices, serving as first point of conflict resolution on process questions, and cultivating a culture of feedback between team members and management.
  • Schedules employee vacations within the department while maintaining a continuous level of service to our customers.

Strategic:

  • Works in concert with the PDC/RDC Manager with short and long term planning, budgeting, expense control, and successful implementation of overall PDC/RDC business plan.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of preventive maintenance activity toward safety and operational goals in conjunction with Facility Engineer.


Qualifications:

Years of Experience:

  • 7 years of experience at a PDC or RDC, or any other automotive warehouse facility
  • 3 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a warehouse setting

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree - desired

Skills:

Specialized Skills:

Required:

  • Knowledge of PDC/RDC practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of wave and batch processing
  • Thorough knowledge of TekRF transactions and systems processing
  • Practical experience and good working knowledge of ET-2000 (or related SAP system)
  • Strong understanding of the industry parts systems and operations
  • Knowledge of computer systems

Desired:

  • 3 years of experience at a VW PDC or RDC
