Job Summary:
The Sr. Accounting and Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing both the financial and accounting functions of the organization. This role ensures robust financial planning, analysis, and reporting while managing daily accounting operationsincluding ledger management, reconciliations, and financial controls. Additionally, the position is charged with capital management, tax responsibilities, including handling all tax-related matters, and maximizing tax credits to support the organization's long-term growth.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organizations goals.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and performance metrics.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Analyze variances, trends, and key performance indicators to inform business decisions.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Accounting Operations:

- Manage the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Tax Compliance & Handling:
- Oversee and manage tax compliance processes, ensuring timely and accurate filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the organizations tax position, including the effective utilization of available tax credits and incentives.
- Handle all tax-related matters, including responding to tax authority inquiries, managing tax audits, and resolving tax issues.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and internal teams to assess the tax implications of business decisions.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure policies and procedures reflect current regulatory requirements.
- Operational Oversight:
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including cash flow, capital expenditure, and cost control.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with internal teams to streamline processes and improve financial systems.
- Capital Management:
- Oversee the allocation and utilization of capital resources to meet operational and strategic objectives.
- Evaluate and optimize the organization's capital structure, including debt, equity, and working capital management.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to determine investment priorities and assess capital expenditures for long-term growth.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and accountability.
- Manage performance, provide coaching, and support training initiatives.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Ensure internal controls are robust and adhered to across all financial processes.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, addressing any issues or recommendations.
- Monitor and manage financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues.
- Business Partnership:
- Collaborate with other departments to support strategic initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making in areas such as pricing, investments, and cost management.
- Engage in ad hoc financial analysis to support mergers, acquisitions, or other business opportunities.
Work Experience/Education/Skills Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, Masters) or professional certifications (CPA, CFA) preferred.
- A minimum of 710 years of progressive experience in finance, with a proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, managing teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Proficiency in financial software like SAP and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices in financial management.
- Experience in capital management, including evaluating investment priorities and optimizing capital structure.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and solve complex finance challenges.
