Volume One, the Chippewa Valley’s only independently owned, award-winning magazine, media and events organization, is seeking a Multimedia Editorial Producer/Journalist for a full-time position on our evolving content team. As our organization enters its 23rd year, we’re looking for talent that can aid in the constant evolution of our community-minded approach to multi-platform media including print, digital, social, video, audio, and event production.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY
This role is perfect for a multi-faceted, dynamic, and self-starting individual who is ready to hit the ground running. However, depending on the skills and experience-level of the applicant, the role could take multiple forms ranging from leadership to entry level, working on content ranging from hard journalism to fun cultural discoveries, and creating media ranging from glossy videos to the written word. All depending on the core skills of who we end up with. So we’re open to meeting people with varied talents who can help build the future of community content.
Regardless, the position will work within Volume One’s Editorial, Video, Photo, and Design teams, contributing to the production and creation of relevant stories for our magazine, website, social feeds, video channels, live events, and more in themes including community news, arts, lifestyle, food & drink, outdoors, and more.
Varying projects and day-to-day efforts could include rapid gear shifting between ideating, interviewing, researching, writing, shooting, editing, layout/designing, collaborating with contributors, and related tasks within our community-focused operations. Meet and assist fascinating people in making the Chippewa Valley a better place by helping spread the word and engaging locals and visitors with the things that make your community great.
TRAITS & QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in, or considerable experience with, journalism, multimedia communication, video production, or other editorial/production positions is required. Must be driven, tough, and extremely well-organized with an appreciation for a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work solo and collaborate well on a team, including not only staff but both professional and volunteer contributors and interns. Strong writing ability and interpersonal skills. Experience with project management. Must creatively identify story ideas and understand how to bring them to life across multiple platforms – while also carefully curating and consciously leaving some things behind.
Additional preferred (but not required) skills include Adobe InDesign page layout ability, Adobe video software skills, photography/videography experience, digital content creation, and experience with web-based content management systems.

This is a full-time, salaried position in a bright and interesting office space in downtown Eau Claire.
