Position Summary: We are looking for compassionate and flexible Part-Time Shelter Support Staff members to join our team.
This position is an essential role in supporting women experiencing homelessness as they navigate their journey toward stability and independence. You will provide direct service, assist in managing shelter operations, and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
Position Type and Hours: This is a Part-Time position. You must be available to work evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends as part of a rotating schedule. Flexibility is key to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent coverage during assigned shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Monitor shelter activities and ensure residents, volunteers, and staff safety and security.
- Assist residents with inquiries, needs, and any issues that may arise during their stay.
- Enforce shelter policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, escalating to other staff or authorities as required.
- Complete client intake, maintain accurate records, and support residents through their journey at the shelter.
- Offer information and referrals for additional resources.
- Help guide and support volunteers as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with team members through written and verbal reports.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in shelter-related activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, OR shared life experiences that allow you to connect to vulnerable women positively.
- Prefer experience working in the human services field, especially with women experiencing homelessness or related challenges such as mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, or poverty.
- Flexibility to work evenings, overnight, and weekends.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Food Handler Permit (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a Washington State Patrol (WSP) background check and be 18 or older.
