SUMMARY
Pick up of sellable donations from private residences and locations, distribution of goods between the resale stores and the warehouse. Perform general responsibilities and labor at the warehouse and on the store’s donation dock
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Accompany driver with pick-ups and deliveries according to schedule
- Prepare and follow least time routes for multiple addresses
- Load household items securely to avoid breakage during transit
- Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner
Support customer relationships
- Troubleshoot customer service problems arising from changing priorities
- Resolve customer service issues alone or with supervisory help
Dock Operations
- Inspect, clean and vacuum salable furniture and appliances
- Inspect donations to ensure compliance with store policies
- Apply prices and move onto sales floor at direction of store manager
- Assist customers with unloading donations or loading purchases into their vehicles
- Write receipts for donors and keep simple records
Perform general labor at the warehouse
- Interact with stores to keep up stock and to remove trash and non-sellable clothing removal
- Do routine maintenance on all trucks and warehouse equipment
- Shovel snow, remove ice and salt affected areas during winter months
- Safe baling practices
Additional responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with VOA Michigan policies and procedures
- Ensure that all duties are carried out in a timely and orderly fashion so that VOA Michigan functions in the most efficient manner possible
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to meet the requirements of MIOSHA standards including physical, written and skills test for lift truck operation
- Ability to read maps
- Ability to read and prepare reports
- Ability to load and unload trucks and move cumbersome, heavy or fragile items effectively
- Understand the conditions and rules of safe compactor use
- Ability to become knowledgeable of store donation policies and procedures
- Use and maintain radio/telephone and other company equipment
