Benefits - Approximate full-time benefits package value = $23,000 :

    Position Summary

    Provide daily program oversight for the operational success of the Youth Resource Center (YRC), including oversite of 24 / 7 programming and overnight emergency shelter for youth experiencing homelessness ages 15-22. Including management of assigned departments / staff; management of facilities; program services and implementation; community and group liaison; and provide a safe and nurturing environment for clients in accordance with licensing, agency, and contract standards. This role works closely with the Program Director to ensure compliance with licensing standards and best practice throughout the program.

    Essential Duties

    Presence and Compliance

  • Utilize appropriate licensing, agency, and contract requirements to guide daily program operations and program development.
  • Maintain and foster positive relationships with community and government entities, other resource centers, client family members, agency donors and emergency response services.
  • Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time.
  • Staff management

  • Provide direct supervision, guidance and support to days, swings, and graves Coordinators who oversee the Housing Advocate Team.
  • Implement effective on-boarding training and program orientation for all new hires with the assistance of Staff Coordinators while maintaining and updating the training handbook.
  • Oversee all Housing Advocate services provided and work closely with the management team to ensure the services are housing focused and trauma informed.
  • Participate in hiring, performance evaluations and disciplinary processes of Housing Advocates and direct reports.
  • Identify training gaps and make training recommendations to the Director; provide on-the-job, task-specific training.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained, and we are in compliance with licensure and conditional use requirements.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Promote opportunities to support critical thinking among team members.
  • Manage client grievances and ensure timely resolution of client grievances.
  • Work with the Director to ensure that the physical site is well-maintained and safe.
  • Conduct weekly supervision with direct reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of clients and staff, with a strong emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
  • Creating a space for work culture and boundaries in the workplace.
  • Client Services

  • Model de-escalation skills and trauma informed practices for staff when managing difficult client behaviors.
  • Ensure a safe environment for staff and clients by listening to client and staff concerns, evaluating our processes and procedures to make any necessary adjustments to service delivery.
  • Programming

  • Programming coordination and implementation including outreach to community partners to lead programming within housing first model; scheduling programing and marketing programming to clients; obtaining feedback from youth and community partners on programming implementation.
  • Secondary Duties

  • Proactively expand and integrate knowledge of community resources and homeless services best practices.
  • Clear understanding of and adherence to client confidentiality.
  • Complete payroll, receipt coding and pay-related functions in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to Volunteers of America, Utah management activities including management meetings, leadership activities and agency initiatives.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
  • Requirements : Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent required and 2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :

  • One year of adolescent / young adult experience preferred.
  • 2 years supervisory and / or administrative experience in a social service setting.
  • Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.
  • Willingness to accept supervision and direction.
  • If driving is a part of the job, must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be insurable under the agency liability policy.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is performed on-site in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.
