Program Mission
To recognize and meet the distinctive needs of youth who are experiencing homelessness by providing shelter, case management, life skills training, connection to community services and resources with the ultimate goal of assisting all clients in obtaining safe and stable housing.
Position Summary
Training, supervising, and providing daily program oversight to a team of shelter case managers and diversion specialists. Supporting supportive services team in delivering consistent, individualized, and comprehensive services to clients, including diversion support, with the goal of transitioning youth into safe and stable housing. Ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for clients and staff in alignment with licensing, agency, and contract standards.
Essential Duties
Provide direct supervision, hiring, training, and ongoing evaluation to the team of shelter case managers.Oversee and ensure the completion of intakes for youth entering the YRC, ensuring accuracy and thorough assessment of needs, including diversion services.Ensure that each client has a completed case plan focused on individualized, strength-based, and achievable goals that support their transition into stable housing based on each client’s unique needs and barriers, while maintaining a focus on Housing First approach.Communicate effectively with community partners, internal teams, agency donors, and client family members to coordinate quick and efficient access to community resources.Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and supervision, including contingency planning for staff absences.Regularly review the services offered at the Youth Resource Center, adapting current programing or developing new ones as emerging needs arise.Assist the Program Director in analyzing program data, adjusting the scope and direction of the program as needed to improve efficiency and increase positive outcomes.Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure proper implementation of various program grants, monitor ongoing work to support grant requirements, and report on outcomes regularly.Lead weekly meetings and staffing's with Supportive Services team.Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time.Work must be performed on-site due to the need to provide direct client care.Secondary Duties
Ability to interact with clients by demonstrating genuine empathy, concern and understanding of clients and their difficulties while maintaining professional boundariesComplete payroll, receipt coding, and pay-related functions in a timely manner.Participate in the Management On-Call Schedule.Contribute to Volunteers of America, Utah management activities, including management meetings, leadership activities, and agency initiatives.Maintain up-to-date professional skills through formal training and licensure requirements.Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.Requirements : Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required and 2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities :
Direct experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, particularly youth.At least 2 years of supervisory and administrative experience in a youth or social service setting, preferably involving shelter case management and diversion services.Strong knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment best practicesIn-depth understanding of Housing First philosophy, Motivational Interviewing techniques, and Trauma-Informed Care principles, with the ability to operationalize them within an emergency shelter and diversion services for youth.Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.Willingness to accept supervision and direction.If driving is a part of the job, must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.Must be able to pass Utah-DHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.Work is generally performed in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.
