Position Summary
The Youth Housing Director leads the training, supervision, and oversight of youth housing programs for youth experiencing homelessness ages 18-24 out of the Youth Resource Center. This position plays a key role in overseeing the innovative Youth Homeless Demonstration Programs, bringing creativity and best practices together with the lived expertise of individuals from the SLCounty Youth Action Board. The Director ensures all programs operate in compliance with contractual commitments and align with the mission and policies of Volunteers of America, Utah. Programs under the Director’s leadership include Youth Rapid Rehousing, Youth Permanent Supportive Housing, Tenant-Based Rental Assistance, and privately funded initiatives. This role is critical in identifying service gaps and expanding evidence-based housing options for youth experiencing homelessness in our community.
Essential Duties
Ensure high-quality direct services that focus on ending youth homelessness and collaborate with the Division Director and Youth Resource Center leadership to create pathways and partnerships to enhance supportive services for youth.Assist Housing teams with setting strengths-based, achievable goals targeting quick and stable housing solutions; providing thorough and individualized support based on each client’s unique needs and barriers.Analyze program data, identify opportunities for quality improvement, and adjust program scope and direction to enhance program outcomes.Build and maintain relationships with service providers, community organizations, individuals with lived experience, property managers, and all other stakeholders affecting youth housing services, including participating in the COC’s Coordinated Entry System.Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure program consistency and efficiency, while maintaining licensing standards.Work collaboratively to develop innovative ways to engage clients in housing and ensure we meet the needs of individuals with marginalized identities.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, modeling behavior consistent with the organization’s mission and values. Facilitate conflict resolution among staff or clients, addressing disputes, complaints, and grievances in a timely and fair manner.Oversee payroll, receipt coding, and pay-related functions, and ensure check requests are submitted promptly and accurately coded and lead rental assistance forecasting in conjunction with our accounting team.Recruit, hire, train, and supervise direct reports, ensuring ongoing staff training meets program needs.Participate in Management On-Call Schedule.Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time.Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.Requirements : Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a social services field or equivalent and 2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience or any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness; preferably at-risk or homeless youth and young adults.Supervisory and administrative experience in a social service setting.Budget management & program development in a community setting.Knowledge of mental health practices is preferred.Knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Care, Housing First for Youth, Positive Youth Development, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing.Ability to interact with clients by demonstrating genuine empathy, concern and understanding of clients and their difficulties while maintaining professional boundaries.Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.Willingness to accept supervision and direction.Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.Must be able to pass Utah-DHS – Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.Work is generally performed in an office environment or in the community. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.Work will be performed on-site due to the need to interact with and / or provide care and services to clients.
