Major Functions
The County of Volusia is seeking a Supervisor II for the Ocean Center. This position is located in Daytona Beach, FL and will be part of the Operations team assisting with event construction set up, tear down, and assist with basic cleanliness of facilities before, during or after events.
Applicant must be available to work days/nights/weekend shifts.
Illustrative Duties

- Performs work found in the Supervisor I classification.
- Operates equipment and oversees routine preventive maintenance service and event set up and tear down for events.
- Prepares reports and makes recommendations on maintenance procedures and methodology.
- Performs and supervises the following categories:
- Completes set-ups and tear-downs for scheduled events.
- General cleaning throughout the building, grounds and surrounding properties.
- Provide top-tier customer service to Ocean Center clients and guests.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and two (2) years of general construction and/or maintenance experience, of which one (1) year is at the supervisory level; or three (3) years of experience at a Supervisory level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of materials and methods commonly used in the construction/maintenance activities of the specific job function.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the standard safety precautions of construction/maintenance activities.
- Ability to lay out and direct the work of one or more construction/maintenance crews.
- Ability to read and execute floor plans.
- Skill in the use of various equipment and machinery related to the work and in the operation and maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Possess all knowledge, abilities and skills of the lower level.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to interact effectively with others.
- Must be able to read and follow verbal and written directions.
- Must be able to relocate to other county locations based on operational needs.
ADA REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands: Medium to Heavy work. Ability to lift (50 lbs), carry, reach, see, talk, handle, feel, push, pull, twist. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception) to operate motorized vehicles and machines.
Environmental Demands: Outside work. Ability to tolerate inclement weather including rain, humidity, heat and cold. May be exposed to chemicals, insects, toxic plants, odors, dust, fumes, noise, vibration.
Mental Demands: Ability to read safety instructions, memos, letters, product directions, work orders, blueprints, layouts, financial statements. Ability to write at a level of relay information, data, details to others via procedures, memos, reports, financial statements, directions. Ability to perform shop math. Ability to speak clearly and concisely relaying information to workers and laymen.
