What We Are Looking For:
The Volvo Cars is seeking a Maintenance Planner to support our production maintenance operations at our Charleston/Ridgeville, South Carolina location.
What You'll Do
The role of the Maintenance Planner is to ensure high manpower and equipment efficiency through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment availability.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Safety, Environment and Quality are of the highest priority.
- Plan and Schedule Preventive, Corrective and Improvement Work Orders.
- Optimize the work schedule for the available resources, and coordinate with Engineering and Projects to ensure there are no schedule conflicts.
- Review and evaluate work requests submitted from plant team members and management.
- Efficiently plan work orders by reserving or procuring the parts and materials needed and accurately estimating the technician’s time needed to complete each task.
- Create/update preventative maintenance plans.
- Create/update Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports, as requested by maintenance management
- Support and promote the use of lean manufacturing techniques applied to maintenance
- Carry out any additional duties as and when required, which are not specified above.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field) a strong plus.
- 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
- Experience with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint) for scheduling and tracking maintenance tasks.
- Strong Computer Skills, MS Office, intermediate Excel.
- Successful candidate must possess an awareness of costs and recommend areas where savings can be made.
- Must be able to identify parts required to execute work, tool requirements, manpower requirements and estimated completion time.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment.
- Experience with inventory and spare parts management.
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
- Certified Maintenance Planner (CMP)
- OSHA Safety Certification
- CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) training
