What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager Purchasing position at Volvo Group?
Lead and coordinate purchasing activities in class zero through class two projects. Managing both PPD and OtD projects following GDP/Scrum sourcing requirements using the sourcing strategies defined by the commodity teams; Represent Purchasing and actively contribute in the Project Management Team; Direct material product cost “champion”; Bring and share Technology Road Maps inputs to the commodity strategies; Support new product, localization and operations projects by managing purchasing activities in accordance with the defined activities and project timelines defined in Volvo GDP guidelines and Scrum way of working; Support the Chief Project Managers in executing part sourcing strategies, managing part information in SAP, leading early supplier involvement to secure APQP, cost targets, and proper timing plans on delivery of components for project execution including AFM requirements of parts on shelf; Monitor, follow-up and request an action plan to achieve the target cost compliance; Responsible for the Direct material cost road map and request action to close the gap (Projects and current products); Ensure optimization of total cost of ownership (quality, logistics, and manufacturing); Manage the cost of capital for the project; Ensure all prototype pricing is within project expectations and budget; Manage Purchasing activities in accordance with the GDP/Scrum; Secure ESI – Early Supplier Involvement; Ensure cost levels for Direct Material aligns with cost targets; Ensure all Purchasing project assurance plans are met for each project gate requirements; Direct the sourcing of prototype parts meeting QDCF target requirements; Direct the sourcing of production parts meeting QDCF target requirements; Contribute with SD in executing APQP in the project; Manage and control the level 2 project plans for Purchasing team; Actively participate in the Commodity Team by giving inputs of Technology Road Map for NPD projects; Inform project stakeholders about Purchasing project status; Participate in CPM project reviews and technical product design reviews; Interface with the Buyers to develop the needed detailed information for input on Purchasing progress at the project reviews. Support the buyers in developing mitigation plans as needed; Contribute to the achievements of the global Purchasing KPI’s; Work in accordance with the Volvo CE processes, the Volvo Way, and the Volvo values and behaviors.
Requirements - Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered or working with project management within Purchasing including management and execution of localization program and projects. Special skills – Experience working as Purchasing representative and focal point in New Product Development projects; New Product Development Process like GDP (Gates Process) or Scrum; ESI (Early supplier involvement) in NPD projects; Make or Buy analysis, cost estimates and business case preparation for new products, including necessary investments; Trade Barriers; Target Cost, Product Cost follow-up and Forecast, including knowledge of cost drivers impacting the total product cost; construction equipment business; and Projects planning, risk, quality and time management.
