The right candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, support, training, and supervision of employees within the department. The lead is responsible for executing the daily work plan, achieving company objectives including on time ship performance, providing a safe work environment for employees, ensuring the manufacturing of customer orders at the lowest possible cost, assisting in the development and implementation of procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained, and participating in process improvement initiatives.
Major Responsibilities for this role:
- Effectively communicates goals, objectives, and guidelines both verbally and in writing.
- Onboards and trains new employees.
- Identifies and communicates unsafe situations in the workplace. Monitors employee safe work practices. Helps to investigate workplace accidents. Completes and submits incident occurrence reports within required time frame.
- Collaborates across departments to conduct troubleshooting and resolve operational concerns.
- Participates in process improvement teams to reduce errors and improve output.
- Participates and engages in the Leadership Development program.
- Maintains scrap log.
- Provides input to supervisor regarding employee performance including attendance. Records employee concerns in HRIS system (Paycor)
- Routinely rounds on employees to ensure productivity is at established levels
- On occasion may operate machines, provide light labor assistance, pull parts, and track down tools.
- Performs other work as requested.
This position requires working fixed days M-THR 6a-5p with with the possibility of required overtime on Fridays if necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent or vocational technical school.
- 3 years of production exposure. Technical training and or work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but we'll train the right candidates too.
- This job requires the ability to work in a hot and humid, or cold environment due to seasonal changes on a constant basis.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Directly supervises employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
