The Estimator is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid and should have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering and industry principles.

Responsibilities:

• Thoroughly read and understand contract documents, plans, and specifications in order to accurately estimate projects
• Attend pre-bids, send out request for quotes, and requests for information
• Prioritize bidding list and stay on top of each task / to-do list (self-motivated)
• Perform precise takeoffs (detailed orientated)
• Interpret maps, utilize google earth, and perform site visits, gather as much information as possible, and take detailed site visit notes 
• Utilize existing production and excel takeoff sheets to estimate anticipated project costs for various types of utility rehabilitation throughout the Southeast
• Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner
• Provide continuing project support by pricing up change orders and / or estimate revisions for Project Managers
• Work closely with our Business Development Managers to provide their customers with  budgetary as well as standard bid proposals
• Responsible for a detailed project handoff to our operations team for a smooth transition
• Ensure site personnel are provided with proper documentation related to the project
• Ability to travel locally as well as throughout the Southeast territory
• Stay organized by utilizing and updating our existing bid tracking sheet for all current and past estimates
• Organize subcontractors' quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents and issue proper documented purchase orders.
• Maintain existing relationships with subcontractors, project managers and clients.
• Seek and add new potential subcontractors and add them to our database
• Archiving historical bid results, obtaining itemized detailed bid tabs

Skills and Experience:

• 3-5 years of estimating and / or related field construction management experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred but will consider entry level candidates
• Water/sewer (underground utilities), municipal environment, and / or construction experience is preferred
• Self-motivating, process / task and extremely detailed orientated
• Proficient in Excel and Google Earth is a must
• Experience in B2W (or also HeavyBid HCSS) Bluebeam, and SharePoint is preferred
• Fast paced, able to handle 10-20 estimates per week
• Strong ability to interpret plans and drawings, orient and map them into Google Earth

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, but some flexibility is required as job duties demand.
