MISSION OF THE POSITION
The Supply Chain Manager will play a vital role in supporting the design, fabrication, and assembly of Starlab's space station. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of aerospace supply chain management and contracting, with experience in NewSpace or commercial spaceflight. This role requires collaboration with engineering, procurement, and supplier teams to deliver high-quality components and systems on time and within budget.
This role reports directly to the Starlab Chief Procurement Officer. The Supply Chain Manager works alongside the Chief Engineer and Starlab Program Manager to deliver the project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering and procurement teams, ensuring technical requirements are effectively translated into procurement specifications and supplier deliverables.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for critical systems and subsystems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities to buy catalog vs. custom items in support of design-to-cost initiatives.
- Engage and onboard suppliers, ensuring alignment with Starlab's technical, schedule, and budgetary requirements.
- Represent Starlab and serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for supplier relationships, including contract management, negotiations, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Implement and optimize supply chain processes embedded within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Monitor supplier performance metrics, including on-time delivery, cost compliance, and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, particularly for high-impact and long-lead components.
- Support the phased integration of ERP / PLM tools and processes to improve supply chain visibility and efficiency.
