Position Overview:
We’re seeking for a self-starter, highly-driven Electrical Controls Engineer who will provide professional direction and hands-on support for Production and Controls support. This position reports to the Plant Manager and entail great challenges and career development.
General Summary
Focus of this position is Production Electrical and Controls Support, Installation of New Control Systems and Upgrades to Older Existing Controls. Develop project scopes, funding proposals, generate specifications, and handles supervision of contractors and internal personnel for effective project delivery. Support maintenance in electrical and controls troubleshooting. Coordinates with project stakeholders including but not limited to Operations, Line Maintenance, Building Maintenance and HESS (Safety) staff to ensure that projects are implemented with utmost attention to safety and minimal disruption to production. Manages project financials to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Essential Job Functions
Troubleshoots electrical and controls problems on the production floor using electrical schematics, programs and meters.
Aids in the development of automation continuous improvement.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the Manager
Ability to program PLC 5, SLC 500, Control Logix, Factory Talk View, and Panel Builder
Understanding of RSLinx, EtherNet/IP, RS232, DH485, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Modbus
Develop off-line PLC, Safety PLC programming.
Ability to create electrical prints using autocad
Effectively able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Understands and applies company’s processes for capital funding, execution and documentation.
Develops project scope, funding proposals, and generates machinery specifications and test protocols for major purchases.
Coordinates project work with project stakeholders including but not limited to Operations, Scheduling and follows applicable Safety, GMP, FDA Codes and/or Guidelines, as they pertain to each project.
Coordinates and supervises outside contractors and other personnel as required.
Manages all phases of assigned projects including spending control, fund tracking, close-out. Ensure that documentation requirements are met for all phases.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor Degree (or higher) in area of engineering or equivalent.
2-4 years related experience in electrical controls projects.
Experience in manufacturing environment.
Programming Experience in PLCs
Experience with Vision systems, Robotics Systems ideal
